Just out of curiosity and boredum, where do you guys get the inspiriation for your characters?
My character Grunge was inspired mostly by the song We Be Burning by Sean paul and the artwork drawn by Hyenaklown of Deviantart. His appearence was influenced mostly by an idea about a blue brindle coat color for dogs and one of my favorite anime characters whom I redescovered not too long ago....
His sister Fidget was inspired mostly by my image of an overprotective sister, which I formed from a friend of mine from New York City. Her appearence was... well, pretty much random. Nothing really affected it, I just picked some stuff and went with it. *shrugs*
So, what about you guys?

To be honest I just made Kai out of the blue. There's not much information about him yet and there won't be until I start rp him. I'm doing projects at the moment -_- But if you checked my other characters on different forums like my elf character Momo you'd see that she's got a lot of info. Normally I try to put a bit of myself into my characters.

Trick was based off a doodle I drew. I cannot draw something like that and name him and Trick came out of the blew at me. And as another joke I came up with a backstory for the picture. Turns out he was supposed to be a drunken idiot who loves to run over people and drag race with cops as well as drinking nothing but vodka and alchohol.
Then the book idea came to me. I, being the weirdo I am, decided to make a forum about it and share my wonderful idea and such with people who want to know. That is how Trick was made. ^^

Interesting, the both of you...
I'm usually very bad at creating totally random characters, loosing muse with them after like three days. But some of them are good, like Fidget and my werewolf charrie Ezhno. Usually though, my characters have a hell of a lot of planning put into them and how I am going to use them and such...

Mine just pop up after watching movies or playing games. Uriko herself was inspired by a game, I changed her personality and appearance somewhat so it wouldn't be theft. Other characters just come out of the blue or from old story characters, like Aidyn and Faythe on Surreal Life.

Yeah, i recognized Uriko from Bloody Roar but you changed her enough that I didn't say anything about it. I often only base my human character's appearences on video game/movie/anime characters but nothing more. Ezhno is an anime character but I've changed his species, history, personality, and practically everything else about him really. He's pretty unrecognizable... Because I think that if posting artwork made by everyday people and saying that's what your character looks like is theft, it should be the same way with art fro animes, video games and so on. They're still artists who put a lot of time and effort into that art and I still think it's theft to use it without permission...
I actually have permission to use that character the way I am...
But anyway, that's a whole nother topic so let me shut up. I do see where you are going with that. Other characters are great inspiration. I get the best stuff from songs though, really. Am I alone on this one?

Not really. But songs inspire me to think of stories instead of characters. If you seen one of the ending credits for the Inuyasha series. One of their songs inspired me to make a short story about a young girl and a doppelganger trapped in a mirror. The doppelganger represents either a ghost or a halluciation by the girl's POV. I've only just started on it and still thinking it up along the way.
I actually sent a piece of it to my english teacher because we had to write a short story. He thought I had taken it from a book or something because he could believe that I wrote it. Made me feel a bit sad knowing that he thinks I may have cheated on it, which I didn't...
